Team Vineti stands in solidarity with the Black community: Black Lives Matter

Our company was founded in 2016 to bring life to the following vision: “Vineti works to create a world where individualized, high-value health care reaches all.” We seek to industrialize the most promising areas of personalized medicine so that they can be extended to all patients, regardless of skin color or any other human attribute. We acknowledge we have a lot more work ahead of us, as a company and as citizens.

We are aggrieved by the tragic murders and violence against Black people that persist in the United States, many incidents never even making the news beyond the known lost lives, whose individual and unique stories we share in openly mourning. As a healthcare technology company, we’ve been deeply disturbed by the disproportionate rates of COVID-19 infection and lethality suffered by Black and Latinx Americans. We also acknowledge that the technology sector – and particularly Silicon Valley where Vineti is based — has failed to adequately support the professional advancement of Black and Latinx Americans since its inception. Data from the past several years reinforce the point: Black Americans made up seven percent of the US high-tech workforce, and just three percent of the total Silicon Valley workforce. 

At Vineti, we believe in the Platinum Rule: do unto others as they would want done to them. We acknowledge we are falling short in emulating the Platinum Rule as a democracy, and we are also committed to doing better as citizens and as teammates. We will seek out difficult conversations and continue to educate ourselves, and we are determined to reflect more diversity in our ranks and in our hiring priorities at all levels. And we will continue, in the wake of this global pandemic and our eventual societal recovery, to leverage the formidable muscle of our team – our own dollars and especially our time and ideas – to help reduce the gaps in healthcare access for patients, and for other patients of color. Advanced therapies should be available and accessible to all — as should all necessary healthcare and tools for well-being.
